Fudgecicle 5K (1-16-2010)

The Fudgecicle 5K is a no-frills 5K that draws runners from North and West of Boston every Saturday morning in January and February.   The course is flat.   Usuallly the world is in a deep freeze…but today is mild, with temps pleasantly in the 20′s.

Fudgecicle 5K (1-9-2010)

Every Saturday morning in January and February a few dozen hard-core runners converge in Tewksbury, MA for a no-frills 5K.   The course is flat.   The air burns your throat when you breathe.   The world is frozen, and we fly through it like birds.

Fudgecicle 5K

Race #9 in the Fudgcicle 5K Series)

Temps in the 30′s and bright sun make this a perfect day for the final Fudgcicle 5K of 2009!

My injury has defied all attempts to rein it in, and I can barely hobble.  But I won’t miss this final race in the Fudgecicle 5K series, so I’m here to cheer and take pictures.

The runners all look terrific!


Some of them see me and wave, cheering for me as I take their pictures and cheer them on.


After the last runner passes me here, I drive to the finish line to cheer for them there.

Race #8 in the Fudgcicle 5K Series)

At race time (8:00 AM), temp is 25 degrees…just about ideal for a late winter race.  I still can’t run because of an injury…but I’m here to cheer and take photos of the runners.


They wave back when they see me and hear me cheer.


After the last runner passes me here, I drive to the finish line to cheer for them there.

Fudgecicle 5K

Race #7 in the Fudgcicle 5K Series)

At race time (8:00 AM), temp is in the mid-20s, with bright sun and just a little wind.  Ideal for running!

Alas, I won’t be running today.  I pulled a muscle in my…ahhh….butt, and can barely walk.  But I love the race and the runners so I couldn’t stay home.

It took a lot of slow, painful steps, but I managed to get out into my driveway and into my car…and now I’m in Tewksbury so I can take pictures and cheer for the runners in the Fudgecicle 5K.


They wave back, surprised that I’m not running with them.


After the last runner passes me here, I drive to the finish line to cheer for them there.
