FJG Race to the Top of Vermont

The FJG Race to the Top of Vermont is one of my favorite mountain races. Its winding auto road feels much like Mt. Washington…but it’s only 4.3 miles (vs. 7.6 to the top of Mt. W.) so even on a very hot day it won’t wear you out the way Washington will. After the race you can recharge and relax with a BBQ and raffle. Well worth the drive to Stowe, VT.

Come! Run with me now

(I took these photos while running.)

All right! Let’s get to the good stuff–an HD video that puts you right in the middle of this race. Go ahead! Click the ‘Play’ button below. (And be sure to view the video in Full-Screen, so you’ll see the race in panoramic, high-resolution.)

Were you at this race–and if so, what did you like best about it? What could be improved?

(If you weren’t there, I hope these photos and HD video gave you a taste of the race…and I hope I’ll see you at a race next week.)

One Response to FJG Race to the Top of Vermont

  1. I was at the race; it was my first time attempting it. I have only been a runner since March, and I foolishly thought I could run a lot of the race. I couldn’t! By then end, I thought I might need to crawl, but I finished.

The views were fantastic. I really liked the friendly atmosphere, and the celebration afterward was a ton of fun. I am a Vermonter, and I think we did our state proud!

I think the biggest thing that could be improved would be more aid stations. 1 station over 2 miles in just wasn’t enough. Also, by the time I finished they had run out of water at the summit, and I waited half an hour for a drink. Not fun on such a hot day- but the weather couldn’t have been better.

I will do this again- someday! Love it!
